In 1938 Ernest Pierson began building houses in Eureka, California under the name of Ernest Pierson Company. Over the next twenty years he constructed over 2000 homes in the greater Eureka area.
In 1957 Mr. Pierson expanded his construction business and built the McKinleyville Shopping Center. He went on to construct Pierson Building Center in 1960—to this day the largest home improvement center in Humboldt County—followed by the Eureka Mall, Eureka’s first enclosed shopping center, in 1966. For the next thirty years the Pierson family business focused primarily on commercial and residential property management and real estate investment.
In December, 1999 Ernest Pierson’s grandson, Greg and his wife Sharon purchased the business and renamed it Pierson Company. They reemphasized real estate development while expanding property management services and adding commercial real estate brokerage services. The most significant change the new owners made was the added offering of construction services to non-family business owners.
Greg and Sharon have evolved the company’s vision and expanded its offerings, while strengthening the core values of quality, foresight and integrity. |
